Laboratory tests are usually done more often during the first year of hormone therapy and less often as time goes on. When you start taking hormones, laboratory tests will be done every three months; some conditions and health circumstances require more frequent blood tests. I have read that I need to have blood tests now to have a pre-hormonal therapy reference value that I can compare with future tests. Take care when drawing blood from an area of the skin that has been in contact with a gel, cream, or spray to prevent hormones from contaminating the blood test and giving an abnormally obtained result tall.
From what I've been reading, a complete metabolic panel and a complete blood count are necessary, in addition to my estrogen and testosterone levels.
